Seraing: Industrie-Landschaft
Die reichen Rohstoffvorkommen – z.B. Kohlegruben, ausgedehnte Wälder, Bleiminen und Kalksteinbrüche –, die zentrale geografische Lage und die guten Transportmöglichkeiten führten zur frühen Industrialisierung Walloniens. Auch heute noch beeindruckend ist die Industrielandschaft entlang der Maas, wie hier bei Seraing, wo John Cockerill 1824 den ersten Koksofen errichtet hat.

Les riches gisements de matière première (charbon, vastes forêts, mines de plomb et carrières de calcaire), une situation géographique centrale et une excellente infrastructure de transports ont contribué à l'industrialisation de la Wallonie. Le paysage industriel qui s'étale le long de la Meuse, comme ici, près de Seraing, où John Cockerill a construit en 1824 le premier four à coke, est toujours aussi impressionnant.
